The Center for Relativistic Astrophysics (CRA) has initiated the CRA Visiting Scholars Program. The program supports astrophysicists with existing collaborations or significant scientific overlap with CRA faculty to spend a meaningful period (1-3 months) in residence at the CRA, located at the Georgia Institute of Technology. During the visit, the CRA Visiting Scholar gives a CRA seminar and is encouraged to participate in various formal and informal activities to interact with members and students in the CRA and the School of Physics.
The nominating CRA faculty must include the following documents in a single PDF:
- A one to two page nomination letter that describes the scientific overlap with CRA faculty members, the technical aspects of the proposed collaboration, and the likely downstream impacts of the long-term visit.
- A signed letter of support on letterhead from the nominee stating that they approve of this nomination.
- A proposed budget that includes salary, fringe, if necessary, round-trip travel to Atlanta, and any other expenses needed. Awards can only be used to support the Visiting Scholar. Georgia Tech overhead should be excluded from the proposed budget. Awards are capped at $20k per award and must be fully expended by June 15th of the awarded fiscal year.
The candidates for the program can only be nominated by CRA faculty members. The proposal should be sent as a single PDF by email to the Director of the CRA before March 31 of each calendar year. One award will be given each fiscal year. The Director (John Wise), Associate Director (Tamara Bogdanovic), and an additional CRA faculty member will evaluate the nominations.
